About Us

True Cycling is a non-profit association officially registered in 2026 in Spain, although it is open to people from all over the world.

The growth of women’s cycling and the increase -still very insufficient- of women on the staff of both men’s and women’s teams is generating greater diversity in the sport. Different sensibilities and cultures open doors to new approaches and ways of thinking, enriching the entire cycling community. Even so, professional cycling faces a clear LGBTQ+ invisibility problem.

In the men’s peloton, there are currently no openly gay or bisexual male cyclists competing at the WorldTour or ProTeam level. The problem is also evident in the teams’ staff. In the women’s peloton, LGBTQ+ representation is broader, but they often have to share a team with a predominantly male staff where diversity can be challenged.

We aim for a professional cycling where all participants, regardless of their sexual orientation, can compete and work openly and authentically without discrimination.

True Cycling is chaired by Raúl Banqueri, who has worked as an analyst for Movistar Team and Human Powered Health and is UCI certified rider’s agent. Thanks to the support of some great people, True Cycling has established itself as the first association for LGBTQ+ cyclists and staff in professional cycling.
